Kevin Costa is a Senior Policy Analyst at the New York City Department of Transportation. His twenty year career in City Government includes serving as Chief of Staff to New York City Council Member Gale A. Brewer and managing a $250 Million dollar budget as Director of Federal of State Programs for the New York City Department of Transportation. He was a Senior Policy Analyst in the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Economic Development's "think tank," the Economic, Policy and Marketing Group, and has held other positions responsible for the management and development of City property.
Kevin has also been active in politics and broadcasting. He served as Political Director for New York City Council Member Alan Jay Gerson's successful 2001 election campaign and has worked in many other campaigns. He has produced and hosted both news and music radio programming for KRSM- FM, KCHU-FM, and WKCR-FM.
Kevin's undergraduate and graduate work was at Columbia University in Urban Studies and Urban Planning, and he remains active there in alumni affairs. He participated in the Coro Foundation's Leadership New York Program and has done volunteer work with the City's homeless children.
He became acquainted with Day One during his tenure at the City Council where he personally reviewed hundreds of applicants for Council funding. Of all these applicants, Day One impressed him for the singularity and uniqueness of its mission and the energy and intelligence of its staff. He is honored to be a member of the Day One Board.
