Cassandra Mensah is a City University of New York (CUNY) Law School Graduate who first joined the Day One team as a Legal Intern in 2017. Cassandra is currently a Law Graduate at Day One, awaiting the New York Bar Exam results.
Prior to law school, Cassandra created a student organizing group dedicated to preventing and responding to sexual violence on her college campus. The group ran anti-oppression workshops, created a bystander intervention program, and advocated for the school to hire its first trauma-informed counselor for students. This work sparked a passion in Cassandra for survivor advocacy.
During law school, in addition to interning at Day One, Cassandra interned at the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, Sanford Heisler & Sharp LLP, a plaintiff side employment discrimination firm, and Mediation Works NY, a family and matrimonial law mediation firm located in Brooklyn, New York.
Cassandra is a Canadian of Jamaican and Ghanaian descent and a lover of Netflix and naps. She is interested in responses to youth dating abuse that promote healing and accountability and is excited to empower young people to utilize the legal system to achieve these ends.
