February Is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month (TDVAM). Help us celebrate healthy relationships and join us in taking action to spread awareness and prevent dating violence!

Here’s how you can participate.

Events:

POV on PBS will be holding a special sneak peek screening of the Oscar-nominated Minding the Gap, a documentary that follows three skateboarding friends as they navigate the the gap between childhood and fatherhood, between discipline and domestic abuse, and ultimately the chasm between childhood and becoming an adult. Youth peer leaders from Day One will facilitate a discussion after the film.

Join the Youth Voices Network for an Open Mic Night in honor of Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. Bring your poetry, your song, a story, your stand-up joke you’ve been dreaming of sharing! All open-mic sign-ups will receive a free raffle ticket.

Day One is excited to announce a special 2-part webinar series entitled EPIC Talks: Supporting Healthy Relationship Development in Children as Violence Prevention. In this training educators, school counselors, and caregivers will learn the fundamentals of supporting healthy relationship development among children, with a focus on K-5 students. We will discuss how young children internalize messages about consent and relationship norms that can impact their early relationship development and can create specific barriers to seeking support.

Join us February 28th for a charity performance at Improv Asylum hosted by Day One’s Young Professionals Board! Proceeds will benefit Day One’s work to end dating abuse and domestic violence for New York City youth. Your ticket price includes entry to the show and 1 free drink.
