Tina Croucher Act in Ohio finds problems with implementation. Implementation of the law, known as The Tina Croucher Act, hasn't gone perfectly, said Cheryl Tarantino, executive director of the Warren domestic-violence shelter Someplace Safe. Because the Legislature didn't provide any funding to carry it out and because the law didn't specify what kind of education is required, some schools are doing almost nothing, Tarantino said.

New study from the University of Illinois finds abused lesbians are in double jeopardy. "A lesbian mom's abuse situation is unique in that she fears losing her kids to the biological father or the state instead of the abuser," says Jennifer Hardesty, associate professor of family studies at the University of Illinois. The study, the first to examine help-seeking for intimate partner violence among lesbian or bisexual mothers, is published in the journal Violence Against Women. For the study, 24 mothers—in a relationship for on average six years who had been abused by a same-sex partner—were interviewed about their experience.

Some states propose laws for the creation of a free online database of convicted of domestic violence or dating violence. Some states, such as Texas, have proposed laws for the creation of a free online database that would list the name, date of birth and photograph of individuals convicted of domestic violence or dating violence. Texas State Representative Trey Martinez Fischer filed the House Bill. Fischer says the proposed law would promote safer dating, because men and women could search for their prospective date's name before agreeing to go out. Fischer also believes it may have an overall decrease in instances of domestic violence and abuse.'

The group of students demonstrated several scenarios of teen dating violence Monday night during the 4th annual "Violence and Dating Should Not Be a Couple" event held at Friedman Middle School.

Advocate from the New York City Anti-Violence Project writes about silence about intimate partner violence in the LGBTQ community for the Huffington Post. Intimate partner violence is about power. It is about control. And it is increasingly deadly. The New York City Anti-Violence Project (AVP) has seen an increase in the severity of intimate partner violence incidents and murders of LGBT victims over the past few years. Yet, these deaths seem to elude public attention, with neither outcry nor a call to action. The result is that LGBT survivors are ignored and marginalized, without the support they need to be safe.
