Legal Matters

NY Law requires dating sites to give safety tips.  The Internet dating safety act would require that companies warn customers of the dangers of meeting strangers. The tips include: always letting someone else know if you are going to meet someone new, always providing your own transportation and making sure to meet in a public place.

 

In the Headlines

Two students in Indiana aspire to help teen crime victims. According to the National Center for Victims of Crime, teens in general are considered an underserved population when it comes to crime. They are victimized more than any other age group, often engage in risky behaviors that contribute to crime and often don't know about available support programs. 

 

Scholarly Research

Study examines males' and females' experiences of violence in dating relationships. The present study explored males' and females' experiences of violence within dating relationships and, specifically, whether there are different patterns in the predictors of victimization for males and females.

 

Events

Free workshops on recognizing and preventing dating violence and domestic violence in NJ. The Start Out Fresh Intervention Advocates, has announced that it is offering free workshops in September and October on recognizing and preventing dating violence and domestic violence. Young men and women ages 13 to 19 and their parents are invited.
