Community Educator Supports Survivor at Rally

Community Educator, Claudia Martinez, joined forces with the Connect the Dots Coalition at a rally encouraging the maximum sentencing of two police officers accused of raping a young woman this year. Member organizations of Connect the Dots Coalition, along with New York City Council members, activists and survivors worked together to "connect the dots" between the sentencing of Officers Moreno and Mata and the larger issue of Violence Against Women. Check out video footage of Claudia at the rally here.

Social Worker Trains at Manhattan Borough President's Office

The Manhattan Borough President's Domestic Violence Task Force recently invited Day One's Social Worker, Michele, to present on issues facing LGBTQ youth experiencing intimate partner violence (IPV). Michele partnered with the New York City Anti-Violence Project and the Ali Forney Center about legal and social interventions for LGBTQ youth experiencing IPV, the intersection of LGBTQ homelessness and IPV, and how LGBTQ youth IPV looks different than "straight" IPV.
