Executive Director Stephanie Nilva was invited to the White House in October for an event marking Domestic Violence Awareness Month. President Obama and Vice President Biden spoke about new federal efforts to protect survivors of domestic and sexual violence.

Conference for Service Providers Hosts Day One Staff

The Children's Aid Society recently hosted a conference for foster care and preventive staff on effective strategies for working with teens in or at risk of abusive relationships.

Staff Attorney Ian Harris presented two workshops – one on technological abuse and another on working with teen mothers. He reminded the audience that the warning signs of abuse look different today than they have before.  

Youth Voices Network Coordinator Jean Sung sat on a panel to discuss strategies on working with youth in abusive relationships, reminding participants any young person from any background can experience abuse.

The event was a great success, and Day One is proud to have collaborated with Children's Aid Society.
