Summer Peer Leaders Join Day One
Day One also welcomes summer Peer Leaders Veronica, Dway, Gabe, Crosby, Ernestine and Margaret. Under the direction of our Peer Leadership Coordinator, Joy, our summer Peer Leaders are working together to create change that can affect thousands of young people across the city's college campuses.
Peer Leaders are participating in intensive training sessions on domestic violence, social justice and activism, as well as leadership approaches. They are also strategizing on a campaign to encourage New York City colleges to create and revise sexual assault and domestic violence policies. Additionally, they will campaign for more preventive education for young people on our college campuses to know the warning signs of dating abuse and where to find help. Peer Leaders will also work in smaller action groups to write research papers, create PowerPoint presentations about dating abuse, and develop sample sexual assault and domestic violence policies for colleges.
Day One is proud to support our Peer Leaders in creating a safer, healthier environment for our college campuses.
