Day One welcomes staff, expands community work

In 2010, Day One is working harder than ever to end dating abuse among New York City youth, strengthening our partnership with teens while broadening our services. We are also proud to announce the addition of new staff members to the Day One team.

Legal Services continues to provide integral services for our young clients. Staff Attorney Ian Harris, is helping young victims find safety every day. To refer a client for legal help with relationship abuse or related issues, contact attorney@dayoneny.org.

Community Education is expanding and updating our workshop curricula to reach more youth about the diverse and evolving issues they face in abusive relationships. We're now scheduling summer workshops, so reserve a youth workshop or professional training today. Additionally, our "Know Your Rights" guides  are now available  in Spanish! To receive copies of our KYR guides or to schedule a workshop for your CBO, please contact Claudia Martinez at educator@dayoneny.org.

Youth Voices Network members continue to share their stories as survivors and speak out against dating abuse. YVN has welcomed new members this year, building a stronger community of survivors. For more information or  to join the Youth Voices Network, please contact Jean Sung at jsung@dayoneny.org.

New Peer Leaders are active in campaigning for greater awareness of sexual assault and harassment on their college campuses. Day One's Peer Leadership Coordinator, Joy Marie Conway is recruiting and training college students year-round. If you know a college student who would be interested in joining Day One as a Peer Leader, please contact peerleadership@dayoneny.org.

Lastly, Day One welcomes Margarita Guzman as our new Program Director. Margarita's extensive experience and background as an attorney will help Day One continue to provide innovative programming that will foster rich and rewarding partnerships with youth while also helping to expand our Legal Services.
