Richard is the former CEO (and before that COO) of Harte-Hanks, Inc (NYSE: HHS) - he retired in 2008. During his tenure as CEO/COO, Harte-Hanks was cited by Business Week, Forbes, Bloomberg and others as one of the "best companies". During his tenure at Harte-Hanks, Richard published over a dozen articles related to the business of direct and interactive marketing, he served as the Chair of the Direct Marketing Association and was on the Advisory Boards of the Center for Retailing Studies at Texas A&M and the Center for Direct Marketing at New York University's School of Continuing and Professional Studies.
Richard has served on four Corporate Boards - Harte-Hanks, Modem Media, Site Specific, Inc. and John Wiley & Sons; he is currently on the board of Rentrak. He has spoken at a wide range of marketing and database conferences, lectured at Northwestern, Carnegie Mellon (where he received his BS) and Rutgers, taught at Columbia (where he received an MBA) and is currently on the faculty of NYU and Baruch where he teaches required courses in Master's Degree programs. Richard currently serves on three nonprofit Boards and is the Chair of Day One.
