Over 30% tell no one at all.
Day One's preventive education program uses role plays and interactive elements to raise questions about power and control in relationships among youth. Presentations in schools, youth programs and foster care facilities teach teens how to identify the warning signs of dating violence, help a friend who is being abused, and exercise their rights and responsibilities under the law. In addition to educating youth, Day One trains parents, social services providers, school faculty, administrators and other professionals working with youth to identify dating abuse, make appropriate referrals and offer supportive guidance to teens and young adults. By training professionals, Day One helps ensure young people have access to critical information and resources, and supports a violence-free environment for youth. For more information on our Community Education Program or to request a presentation, please contact educator@dayoneny.org.
