Youth Voices Network
The Youth Voices Network unites survivors of teen dating abuse with the mission of personalizing their experiences by creating opportunities to connect with other survivors, speak about their experiences, and raise community-wide awareness of the issue – all while fostering personal growth and healing.
The Youth Voices Network is looking for members. We are looking for survivors, ages 18-28, who have experienced domestic violence or dating abuse as a teen or young adult and have been out of an abusive relationship for at least one year. If you’d like more information, please contact jsung@dayoneny.org. If you’d like to download an application, please click here.
A group made up of former young victims, the Youth Voices Network channels the experiences of its members into building a safer future for other young people. By sharing first-hand accounts of relationship abuse with others, Day One aims to teach young people the signs of dating abuse and how to prevent it, let other young victims know that they are not alone and direct survivors to helpful resources. Sharing the stories of people who have faced and overcome abusive relationships offers the survivors an opportunity to heal and transform their experiences into a powerful tool that can protect other youth.
The Youth Voices Network raises awareness in a variety of ways, including:
Youth Voices members join a community of
fellow survivors who are building their public speaking, advocacy and
leadership skills by speaking out against dating abuse. Their
experiences have the potential to save lives by raising community
knowledge about domestic violence and resources for help. Their
advocacy with legislators and leaders impacts community attitudes and
policy change.
Day One partners with New York City youth end dating abuse and domestic
violence through community education, legal advocacy, supportive
services and leadership development. Our Youth Voices Network is a
powerful initiative that builds safer communities by linking survivors
with youth at risk.
YVN is committed to building a safe and non-judgmental space for a diverse community of survivors of teen dating abuse, including individuals of any race, ethnicity, country of origin, religion, or sexual orientation. YVN gives voice to survivors of dating abuse with the goal of helping youth build safe and healthy relationships throughout their lives.

Partnership with A.C.S.
Day One and the Administration for Children’s Services Domestic Violence Policy and Planning and the Office of Youth Development are engaged in a continued collaboration called “Teens and Adults: Creating a Conversation about Domestic Violence Together.” This workshop series engages youth and ACS caseworkers in an ongoing conversation focused on teenage relationship abuse/intimate partner violence and creating healthy relationships. Sessions cover different topics each month, such as an exploration of the specific needs of youth in foster care and challenges for creating an open and respectful dialogue. The brown-bag setting creates an opportunity for ACS to inform its practice and policymaking and for Day One to expand upon its goal of engaging youth in identifying their needs and goals related to relationship abuse.
