Profile of a Funder
Day One is honored by the generosity of its many corporate, foundation, individual and government supporters that fund our important work with at-risk teens and young adults experiencing domestic violence.
We are particularly appreciative of the organizations that have identified domestic violence and dating abuse as a priority, and selected Day One to be the beneficiary of their own event. As an example, each year, WBLS selects a cause to support at its holiday party, the Party With a Purpose. After working with Day One throughout 2005, New York’s R&B/Classic Soul radio station chose Day One to receive the proceeds of their dinner/dance party, held in December at the New York Marriott Marquis Ballroom. At the end of the night, which was filled with performances from celebrated hip-hop and dance artists, Day One was awarded with a $10,000 check from WBLS and ICBC Broadcasting. The support of WBLS will enable Day One to educate hundreds of young people and offer legal guidance to survivors of dating abuse and domestic violence throughout the New York area.
